The 41st International Physics Congress of the Turkish Physical Society will be held in-person and online between September 01 – 05, 2025, at the Bodrum Municipality Herodot Cultural Center in Bodrum.
The recipients of the 2025 Turkish Physical Society Awards are listed below.
The awards will be presented to the recipients during the Congress Opening Ceremony, which will be held at the Bodrum Municipality Herodot Cultural Center on September 1, 2025, at 09:00. The opening ceremony and the award presentations will also be broadcast live via Zoom and on Turkish Physical Society TV (YouTube).

They will be awarded plaques and certificates of recognition by the Turkish Physical Society.
The 2025 TURKISH PHYSICAL SOCIETY SPECIAL HONOR AWARD will be presented to Prof. Dr. Geoffrey John LEVERMORE, recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on Climate Change. He will be presented with a plaque and certificate by the Turkish Physical Society.
The 2025 TURKISH PHYSICAL SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL HONOR AWARD will be presented to Prof. Dr. Mairi SAKELLARIADOU, President of the European Physical Society. She will be awarded a plaque and certificate by the Turkish Physical Society.
The 2025 TURKISH PHYSICAL SOCIETY PROF. DR. ENGİN ARIK SCIENTIST AWARD has been granted to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet YAĞMURCUKARDEŞ from Izmir Institute of Technology and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan KILIÇ from Eskişehir Osmangazi University. In addition to the 50,000 TL prize sponsored by the ARIK family, they will also be awarded a certificate by the Turkish Physical Society.
The 2025 TURKISH PHYSICAL SOCIETY PROF. DR. ŞEVKET ERK YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD has been granted to Dr. Duygu TUNÇMAN KAYAOKAY, faculty member at Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa. The 30,000 TL prize provided by the ERK family will be shared among the winners. In addition to this, the Turkish Physical Society will present an award certificate.
The 2024 TURKISH PHYSICAL SOCIETY ÖZGEN BERKOL DOĞAN BEST EXPERIMENTAL POSTER PRESENTATION AWARD has been granted to Pehlül Bekir OKUMUŞOĞLU from Gebze Technical University. He will be awarded a certificate by the Turkish Physical Society.
The 2024 TURKISH PHYSICAL SOCIETY ENGİN ABAT BEST THEORETICAL POSTER PRESENTATION AWARD has been granted to Hessa ALKARRANI from the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. She will be awarded a certificate by the Turkish Physical Society.
NOTE: The awards will be presented to the winners during the Congress Opening Ceremony to be held on September 1st at 09:00, as part of the 41st International Physics Congress of the Turkish Physical Society, which will take place at the Bodrum Municipality Herodot Cultural Center between September 01 – 05, 2025.
